First Peking Print Air Mail Stamps

First Peking Print Air Mail Stamps

At July 1, 1921 (Republic 10th Year), the Board of the China Aviation of the Peking Government organizes the Peking-Shanghai Aviation line. The Peking-Tsinan section is opened to traffic on the first, and is marking the beginning of the air mail postal service in China. The first set of air mail stamps issued for this occasion is released at the same day. This set is consisting of five denominations, valued from 15-cents to 90-cents, in which the central design is drawing a biplane flying over the Great Wall with the Five-Colored national flag painted on its rudder. These stamps are commonly known as “First Issuing Air Mail Stamps” produced by the Printing and Engraving Bureau, Ministry of Finance, Peking with the technique of Carving Intaglio in Dual Colors.
